Paul Lines

Paul is a board adviser and corporate financier with 25 years’ experience leading complex transactions and supporting businesses to raise capital and improve operations and governance. In his 23 years at Houlihan Lokey and GCA Altium, he advised hundreds of owners and investors on maximising shareholder value and navigating complex deals.

Paul is a keen traveller, open water swimmer and rugby fan. He’s becoming increasingly competent (or perhaps just more enthusiastic) at padel and tennis.

Career highlights include:

  • Advised an EdTech startup and its CEO on growth, business planning, investment case development, financial modelling and go-to-market strategies for B2B, B2C and channels.
  • Advised the board of a UK not-for-profit on growth and M&A strategy during a key transformation. Led five-case analysis, which led to advising against a proposed deal and suggesting strategic alternatives.
  • Supported the c.£200m sale of CPOMS (a SaaS firm) for ECI to Raptor Technologies. Identified target investors, crafted engagement strategies, developed investor presentations and managed complex stakeholder interests, focusing on international expansion.
  • Led the £850m IPO of Victorian Plumbing Group plc, reviewing finances, governance, KPIs and FPPP. Advised CFO on governance, including composition of board and finance team.
  • As a director at GCA Altium, helped grow the business from four to 300 staff. Instrumental in positioning the firm as an international advisory group and enabling the eventual merger with GCA and subsequently its acquisition by Houlihan Lokey.
  • At GCA, supported the acquisition and subsequent integration of Stella EOC, enhancing its presence and expanding capabilities in the UK, Scandinavia and Benelux.
